Meet The Staff

I’m Trystan Hurst, I’m a senior and have been with the South-Doyle Phoenix staff since my freshman year. I have always loved writing and plan to pursue a career in writing through college. I have been editor for two years in a row now and hope to better my writing even more this year.

My name is Jared, I am a junior, and this is my first year in journalism. I’m in journalism because I’m looking to pursue a career as a journalist, or in journalism. This year I hope to become a better writer and improve my skills as a journalist. As a new student in Mrs. Lawton’s class, I have my whole career ahead of me.

My name Leah, this is my first year in Journalism class, but hopefully not the last. Writing has always been a passion for me, and I try and write every opportunity I get. That is what makes me enjoy this class because I get to constantly write, and even though it’s slightly different, it’s still helping me with my writing skills. This class is helping me with some communication skills, and to not be so nervous while talking to people, because interviewing is a big part of this class!

My name is Destiny Ogle, I am a sophomore, and this is my first semester being in journalism. I joined this class because I had always been interested in journalism and the class seemed interesting. I hope to leave this class with more knowledge in journalism, to help me become a better journalist.

I’m Ashlee. I chose to be in journalism to improve my writing skills and because I heard the class was exciting. I have been in journalism for three semesters now, and I enjoy it because it allows me to practice and broaden my writing. This class has also allowed me to meet new people and form new friendships.

My name is Caroline Dyer and as a sophmore, this is my first semester in Journalism. I am also a part of the volleyball and track team and participate in student council. I love to write and hope to use this class to better my writting skills.

I’m Briana Griffin! I’ve been in Journalism for five, going on six, semesters. This class has meant so much to me because of the experiences. I have made lifelong friends. I have been able to improve my writing while I’ve been at it too. Hopefully one day I will be able to pursue a career in this.

my name is Reilly Bonner and I am a junior! I have always been very interested in writting, so I thought it would benefit me to take a journalism class. I am looking forward to my first semester in this class so that I can grow in my writting and hopefully use what I learn in my adult life as a journalist! As for right now, i spend most of my time as a cheerleader and doing anything art related!  I am also currently learning how to play ukulele!

My name is Lauren Ott, and I am a senior. This is my fourth semester in Journalism. I am apart of the South-Doyle softball team. If you want to find me go to main hall and listen because I will probably be yelling at Lucy Fall. I am tiny but I am mighty and very loud!

Well, my mame is Lexie Shaw, and I am a 16-year-old Junior. Most of the time, when people from South-Doyle meet me for the first time, they always ask if I am "THE Lexie Shaw...like the one that plays golf," and my answer is always (of course) "yes." I have played golf for South-Doyle all three years that I have been here, and I fully plan on being on the team again next year. Not only do I love golf, I also love to write because I love expressing all of my pent up thoughts, and that is exactly what led me to Journalism this semester. I have come to believe that I am using this class to kind of test the waters and see whether or not I could possibly make a career out of it.

Hello my name is Nick Weir. I work at Mcdonalds, and this is my fifth semester in here. I am in love with the queen AKA Lauren Ott! She is beautiful, and absolutley amazing.
