Get out your wallets people this means war. The penny wars have come back to South-Doyle High School for the purpose of supplying seniors with a future scholarship fund. One of the main facilitators helping notify others of the penny wars is SGA leader, Ms. Hannah Wood. She stated, “ By giving a little every day, you can help someone’s future.” Last year, the penny wars raised over a thousand dollars for a young boy fighting cancer. This year SDHS has decided to start a senior scholarship fund for lucky seniors.

The penny wars can help people further their education by allowing them the funds they need for college. There are students that could be helping, but they do not realize the benefits of donating just a few spare coins. For example, Jaden Moore, Sophomore, said,” I’ll donate if it helps someone else.”

Even if the student has received scholarships, the money will still be given to them and be used for educational purposes such as supplies. Wood stated,” By giving now, you may be helping yourself down the road”.
