Tennessee vs. #20 Missouri Preview

The (5-5) Tennessee Volunteers crushed the Kentucky Wildcats 50-16 last week, moving them one win closer to their first bowl appearance since 2010. This Saturday they will be playing the #20 (8-2) Missouri Tigers, who are looking to punch a ticket to the SEC Championship game.

"When you look at Missouri, they have won seven SEC road games in a row. Nine road games overall, which is very, very impressive,” said Tennessee Head Coach Butch Jones.

Dating back to September 27, Missouri has won five out of their six games. The only loss came from Georgia as the Bulldogs won convincingly, 34-0. Despite the ugly loss, the Tigers have rebounded at a high level. Throughout a three game stretch against Florida, Vanderbilt and Kentucky, Missouri outscored their opponents 86-37 while holding each offense under 300 yards.

Missouri might have a little extra on their plate this weekend as the Vols’ offense has been thriving ever since sophomore QB Joshua Dobbs has stepped in. In the past two games, Dobbs has passed for 598 yards, rushed for 214 yards and was responsible for nine total touchdowns. Dobbs also had a record-breaking night against South Carolina when he rushed for 166 yards, the most by any Tennessee Qb ever.

"He's a different player. He's playing at a whole different level. They're competing at a very high level and I think you have to point at him (Dobbs) and say he's the reason why. If the quarterback plays well then everyone else plays a little better," said Missouri Head Coach Gary Pinkel.

Tennessee vs. #20 Missouri will kick-off Saturday November 22, on ESPN at 7:30.
