Writing:

O’Brien became president of Harvard’s humor publication The Harvard Lampoon, his sophomore and junior year. Shortly after, he began writing for SNL (Saturday Night Live) for four years. Burned out, he quit and began looking for something new. He was then hired to write and produce FOX’s The Simpsons. Though he was nervous and self-conscious, he has written some of the most well received episodes.

Hosting:

In 1993, O’Brien began hosting Late Night With Conan O’Brien with sidekick Andy Richter. Though initially he received negative reviews, the ratings quickly improved, making it through 15 seasons before a series finale where he tore apart his set and gave pieces to the audience. He then became host of the Late Night Show, a show that has been running for 60 years. However, due to scheduling conflicts, he departed after seven months. Then, on November 8, 2010 his own show on TBS titled Conan premiered. Conan is still ongoing and is slated until 2018.
