Alabama and Ohio State will be going head-to-head on January 1st, 2015 at 7:30 CT for the semi-final game in the Sugar Bowl.

Although Alabama is ranked 3 spots ahead of Ohio State, the Buckeyes have the same record of 12-1 as the Crimson Tide. The Buckeyes have also lost their first and second string QBs throughout the season and still manage to triumph, only losing to Virginia Tech in their second game of the season; however, Alabama has only lost to Ole Miss.

In addition to Alabama’s number 1 ranked position, they have managed to win throughout tough games such as the game against Arkansas, LSU and Mississippi State; all games within a 7 point score difference.

Alabama’s head coach, Nick Saban, and Ohio State’s, Urban Meyer, are known in the SEC for their long-time rivalry. In 2006 and 2008, Meyer won national championships with Florida before Saban stole the role, winning in 2009, 2011, and 2012. Even though the two coaches have always been rivals on the field, off the field they are very close and consider each other good friends and respect each other.
