ACM Awards

The Academy of Country Music Awards (ACMs), hosted by country icons Blake Shelton and Luke Bryan, was held on April 19, 2015. It was the 50th anniversary of the award ceremony. The ACMs was held in Arlington Texas, a change from where it was usually from in Las Vegas.

Country stars that won awards last year, won awards this year as well. Miranda Lambert was one of those singers and was awarded the Top Female Vocalist, Song of the Year with her song “Automatic” and Album of the Year with “Platinum.” Jason Aldean won Top Male Vocalist. Luke Bryan, Lee Brice, Florida Georgia Line and many more artists were awarded. Country singers that were and were not awarded performed, beginning with Keith Urban and Eric Church and ending with Jake Owen and Darius Rucker.

Because it was the most attended live awards show of all time, the ACMs made a Guinness World Record, in which Blake Shelton said, according to CBS, “They say everything is bigger in Texas. And that’s why we’re here.” This year’s ACMs was also the year Taylor Swift said goodbye to country and went to pop music. Swift’s mom, Andrea, presented her the Milestone Award and said, “To the fans – I know you love her as I love her. And for that, I thank you eternally,” and thanked the country music community for accepting her new pop album, “1989,” says a CBS article.
